Thank you so much to everyone who roamed and raised money for cats this February. The Big Winter Roam will be back in 2025!
Start your year off strong by completing 15, 50 or 100 miles during February and braving the cold for cats, so they don’t have to.
You'll have the freedom to choose how to reach your distance goal – whether that’s a walk every day in February or a week of intense strolling sessions. However and wherever you choose to wander, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
To help you stay snug while you roam for cats, we’ll send you an exclusive Cats Protection beanie when you register!
Cats Protection's Big Winter Roam is a walking challenge taking place during February. It's open to everyone of all abilities to take part.

You can decide which of the following distances best suits you and you can complete your miles in your own way.
Registrations for the 2024 Big Winter Roam are now closed but you can register interest for our Big Winter Roam 2025. Or, if you're ready to roam right now, you can sign up to Roam for Cats at any time.
You can choose to walk your miles at any time across any number of strolling sessions throughout the month of February. Whatever works for you works for us.
Anywhere! All you need is some appropriate footwear for your walk and to dress for the weather, the rest is up to you.
There are many apps you can use to track your distance, but we recommend Strava. Alternatively, you can map out your route in advance or following your walk and record the distance.
It costs £20 to sign up which includes your exclusive Cats Protection beanie and will support our work to make sure every moggy finds their loving forever home. You can also set up a JustGiving page and fundraise for your challenge, meaning your miles will make an even bigger impact on the cats that need our help.
You’ll feel amazing inside and out as you accomplish your Big Winter Roam. Not only will this challenge get you strolling in the fresh winter air, each step you take will be a step towards a better life for cats across the UK.

Without your support, the teams at our 34 centres and around 200 branches simply wouldn’t be able to provide the incredible level of care they do on a daily basis for moggies in need of our help.
You can choose any local Cats Protection branch or centre to receive 100% of your registration fee and the funds you raise from your challenge, helping the cats in your area.
