Cats Protection is part of the Disability Confident employer scheme set up by the Department of Work & Pensions.

What is the Disability Confident scheme?

The voluntary scheme supports employers in attracting, recruiting and retaining those with disabilities. There are various levels of the scheme and Cats Protection is proud to be a ‘committed’ disability confident organisation.

For further information on the Disability Confident scheme, please visit gov.uk/government/collections/disability-confident-campaign.

What is classed as a disability?

Under the Equality Act 2010, a disability is defined as a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ or ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

What commitments has Cats Protection made as part of the scheme?

As a committed Disability Confident employer, we adhere to the following commitments:

  • ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible
  • communicating and promoting vacancies through a range of channels and displaying our Disability Confident badge
  • offering a guaranteed interview to disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria outlined in the job description
  • providing reasonable adjustments as required to our recruitment process and/or working conditions to those with disabilities
  • supporting existing employees who acquire a disability or long-term health condition and enabling them to stay in work

How do I indicate that I want to apply as a Disability Confident candidate?

When applying for any of our vacancies, our application form will ask you to confirm if you would like to be considered for a guaranteed interview under the Disability Confident scheme.

Please note, there may be occasion’s where it is not possible for us to interview all Disability Confident candidates who meet the essential criteria, for example for roles that receive a high volume of applications.
