Welome to the Gwent Branch of Cats Protection!

Gwent Cats Protection has been helping cats in our area for over 40 years. We have a Co-ordinator (Glynis Davies) a Treasurer and a small team of volunteers who perform a variety of roles including fostering, hand rearing, home visiting, issuing neutering vouchers, fundraising, trapping, publicity, social media, lost & found, transport and admin duties. Most of our volunteers have full time jobs and busy family lives and others are of retirement age or older, but we all spend our time doing what we can to help when we can.

We receive on average 20 + calls a day asking us for help with stray, abandoned and sometimes abused cats and kittens and have to prioritise these according to need, space and time available, but we aim to help as much as we can.
So far this year we have re-homed over 150 cats & kittens and transferred many more to our Adoption Centres where they can be homed more quickly. This frees up spaces allowing us to help more local cats and the huge number of kittens at this time of year.

We promote neutering as a priority for all cats and currently have a £5 neutering and microchipping campaign running in conjunction with RSPCA throughout Wales.

We hold several Fundraising events every month to help us help more cats and kittens and to pay the enormous vet bills they incur. These are a chance for all the volunteers to get together and catch up with cat chat, while enjoying the fabulous home made cakes donated by some of our brilliant suporters, without whom we couldn't continue as a branch.
Thank you everyone for being there to help us do so much for the kitties in Gwent - your support is very much appreciated x

We also promote responsible ownership and help with the control of feral colonies by trapping, neutering and returning the cats to their own environment.
