Cat adoption in Harrogate

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in Harrogate?

At Cats Protection Harrogate & District, we often rescue cats and kittens from very difficult environments – like being abandoned in a bin or at the side of the road; from an abusive home environment where they’re at risk of danger; or they may just have been sleeping outside in the cold, all alone. And sometimes, after finding themselves in a desperate situation, a cat's owner may even have chosen to take their cat to a vet to be euthanised. In all of these cases and more, we need your help to provide a loving and safe home for the cats we rescue: we believe all cats and kittens deserve that.

Why adopt a cat from Cats Protection?

Your cat’s paws 🐾 are in the very best hands ✋🏻! We strongly consider Cats Protection to be the ‘gold standard’ of cat welfare. Here’s why:

  • You can trust us: Cats Protection is the UK’s LARGEST feline welfare charity, helping an average of 166,000 cats & kittens a year over the past five years
  • We’re experienced: Cats Protection was founded in 1927. We’re extremely knowledgeable and passionate about animal welfare, and we have a wealth of professional resources and specialist teams available to support us on our mission

Unlike many smaller cat rescues who simply don’t have the significant resources and uncompromised welfare standards as Cats Protection: Adopting a cat or kitten from Cats Protection Harrogate & District means that you and your new friend will benefit from the experience, skill and care that you would expect from the UK's largest feline welfare charity; with many included advantages like a health-check, vaccinations, neutering, microchipping and more.

During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll take into account various factors, including your potential new pet’s personality and how it aligns with your lifestyle, as well as your home environment. Our goal is to create the purr-fect match for both cat and owner, facilitating a fabulous feline friendship!

–

About rescue cats: The cats and kittens we rescue need someone to love them and to give them a warm, safe home. They’ll often need a patient owner, who understands that any cat – especially a rescue cat – is likely to take some time to settle into their new home, and to open up to and bond with their new owner. A cat will need to be matched with an owner who understands the natural personality of a cat: for instance their independent nature, and that they often give affection on their own terms. This can be extremely rewarding if handled well. Of course, every cat needs – and deserves – a loving owner who will put them first.

Before you apply to rehome one of our cats: your new feline friend could be part of your family for over 20 years: so please ensure that you can comfortably afford all the items they’ll likely require during their lifetime – like food, annual vaccinations, insurance and unexpected vet visits.

Our branch is here to support cats and kittens in Harrogate & District, accepting rehoming applications from: all HG postcodes, along with LS17, LS22, LS23 & YO51.
