Cat adoption in Wolverhampton

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat or kitten? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

ADOPTION PROCESS

Enquire

If you’ve found a cat on our website that you’re interested in homing, please fill in the form below the cat or phone 01902 651173. We ask that you only do this if you are really committed to adopting, please remember we are all volunteers and do this in our spare time for no other reason than we want to help as many cats as possible.

Homing phone call

  • If you’re a match for your chosen cat, you’ll be contacted via phone or email to make arrangements for a homing visit which is usually done by WhatsApp video. You may be asked for proof of your address and you will be asked for the consent of your landlord (if you live in a rented property).

Reserving your cat

  • Once the homing visit has taken place and we've mutually agreed to the adoption, we will send you the adoption paperwork by email (Adobe) for signature. In that email will be the name, address and telephone number of the fosterer. If you wish, you can visit your chosen cat, you just need to make arrangements with the fosterer. Feel free to ask them any questions you like about your cat. What it likes to eat, litter used, habits and likes.

Adopt & fee

  • Once you have reserved your cat, you’ll then pay an adoption fee of £105 (for kittens under 6 months) and £85 (for adults), by bank transfer.

Bringing your cat home

  • Once this is finalised you and the cat fosterer will organise a date for collection. Please bring a carrier with you.

WHAT THE ADOPTION FEE COVERS

  • Full vet health check
  • Flea and worm treatment
  • Vaccinations - the cat will always have had their 1st vaccination and we will pay for the 2nd vaccination which will need to be done at the same vet which will be in the Wolverhampton area. Please ask about this when adopting.
  • Neutering - all adult cats will be neutered. If the cat is a kitten, then this may not have been done as they may be too young. We will pay for neutering but it will need to be carried out at the vet we have used which will be in the Wolverhampton area. Please ask about this when adopting.
  • It is a condition of adoption that you will get the kitten neutered once it is old enough and we will check to make sure this has been carried out.
  • Microchip

If you have any general enquiries about your suitability or the adoption process, please email us at adoption@wolverhampton.cats.org.uk

Please remember we are all volunteers and many of us have work or family commitments so we may not always be available right away, but someone will be in touch.

What is Alternative Homing?

Cats Protection's Alternative Homing Scheme is where the cat remains in their owners care while we advertise the cat to be rehomed on our social media pages and website.

The scheme is designed to provide a quick and easy way of helping cats that we cannot take into our care to find a new home quickly.

Under the Scheme, Cats Protection’s involvement in the rehoming process is limited to obtaining information from the owner and passing it to people we know may be looking to provide homes for cats.
