Welcome to Cats Protection Cotswolds Cat Centre

As the UK's leading cat welfare charity we are dedicated to helping cats and kittens across the North Cotswolds, Evesham and the surrounding areas. We cover postcodes: WR10, WR11, WR12, B49, B50, GL55, GL56, the northern areas of GL54 and some parts of CV37.

Our vision is a society where every cat has the best possible life because they are protected, cared for, understood and valued by everyone.

Our friendly staff at Cotswolds Cat Centre are dedicated to helping you find your new feline family member. We've found that the cats in our care are much happier and calmer when they have less visitors, so we operate on an appointment-only basis. This is so we can regulate the amount of visitors a cat interacts with in a day, in order to keep their stress levels down. It also means we can offer a personalised service which explores pet personalities, your lifestyle and home environment to help create the perfect match. See our cats for adoption here

We are also here to help you with rehoming a catlost and found cats, as well as being a community hub for any cat-related help and advice or general education. You can find out more about the work of Cats Protection here.

We also offer the following services:

  • Neutering is the only effective way to reduce the number of unwanted cats in the UK. Our recommended neutering age for your cat is 4 months old. We may be able to help with the cost of a neutering operation. If you need help financially visit our neutering assistance page for more information and eligibility requirements.
  • Supported Cats is a free service aimed at preventing owners having to give up their cats due to circumstantial changes or unwanted behaviours. We work closely with owners to put a specific plan in place within the home, to address the root cause of the unwanted behaviour and hopefully resolve it, so that cats and their owners can live harmoniously together. We can also assist with multi-cat households where the owner is feeling overwhelmed, and provide advice with other situational changes. Please contact us or call us on 01386 833 343 if you would like more information.
  • Community Kitty enables us to provide donated cat food to support owners who may find themselves in a position where they are concerned about having to give up their cat due to financial struggles. We have partnered with Pershore Community Cupboard and Broadway Community Foodbank to help cat owners in the area access food for their cat during times of hardship.
  • Feral Cats are the same species of cat as our pet cats, but are not socialised to humans or the domestic environment. This means they live and behave like wild animals. Feral cats live alone or in groups called colonies, and are found in towns, cities and rural areas. They are equally protected in law as domestic cats. Simply removing them isn't a long-term solution - a new colony will often move in. The best option is to neuter all of the feral cats within as short a time frame as possible, reducing the size of the colony. At Cotswolds Cat Centre we offer a Trap, Neuter and Return scheme (TNR) for feral cats in the local community. Please contact us on 01386 833 343 or email us for more information.
  • Lifeline is a free and confidential fostering service for people experiencing domestic abuse. They can rest assured their cat will be taken care of until they can be safely reunited.
  • Cat Guardians is aimed at giving peace of mind to owners who are concerned about what might happen if they were to pass away before their cat. Owners must be pre-registered with the service.

Lost and found cats in Cotswolds

Have you lost or found a cat in the local area? We’re here to help you. To report a lost or found cat, please call us on 01386 833343 or email us

Ill/Injured Cats

If you have found an ill or injured cat, please take it to your nearest vet. We do not have veterinary facilities on site at the Cat Centre and our staff are not medically trained. Vets are required by law to provide emergency first aid to any sick or injured animal at no cost to the finder.

When an animal is in need, the quicker they get help the better. There’s helpful advice on the RSPCA website www.rspca.org.uk/reportcruelty or take it to your nearest emergency vet. The closest emergency vets to Evesham are Vets Now Worcester 01905 3123 03 or Chipping Norton Vets 01608 642 547.

Stray Cats

Most cats have a sense of adventure and are inclined to roam the area surrounding their home. Even owned cats can beg for food and appear lost or stray. It is important to try and establish whether the cat you've found is truly stray or owned, before the cat is rehomed or brought into a rescue centre. Before we take a stray cat into our care, we will ask you to follow these steps first:

  1. I.D check: take the cat to your nearest vet to be scanned for a microchip. This will not cost you anything, and the vet can then contact the owners to arrange a happy reunion.
  2. Publicise: ask around your neighbourhood to see if anyone recognises the cat. It could be that someone has just moved to the area. Post the cat on social media such as Next Door, Facebook groups for lost and found pets, and check previous posts about missing cats on these groups. Put up posters in your local area. Register the cat on www.animalsearchuk.com.
  3. Paper Collar: Print out the paper collar template here. Write your contact telephone number in the space provided and cut out one collar. Use sellotape to secure the collar around the cat's neck. To ensure the collar is fitted appropriately, you should be able to slide two fingers under the collar.

If no owner has come forward after you have followed these steps, you can call us on 01386 833 343. We will add the cat to our waiting list to be brought into our care.

How to make a stray cat shelter

Pregnant cats or kittens

If you’ve found a pregnant cat or a cat with kittens, call us on 01386 833 343 for further advice.

If you find a young kitten that doesn't appear to have a mother, have a thorough look around the area for signs of more kittens and listen out for their cries. If the kitten you've found is in good health and in a safe location, leave it where it is and wait quietly, hidden at a distance for 20 - 30 minutes to see if the mother cat returns. If she doesn't, call us for further advice.

If the kitten you've found appears unwell, cold or is in an unsafe location, gently and carefully pick it up and put in a secure carrier or cardboard box and call us on 01386 833 343 or take to your nearest vet.
