Caraxes and his brother Tyraxes are looking for a special kind of home together. They are what we call 'inbetweener' cats - meaning that they are somewhere on the spectrum between domestic and feral. 

What the boys would really love is a home where they are given the space to interact with humans entirely on their own terms, with absolutely no expectation of them to ever behave like fully-domesticated cats. They are ideally suited to a rural home on a farm, small-holding, stables etc; somewhere with access to house on site if they decide they’d like to spend more time with their humans.
They will need a warm, dry outbuilding to live in should they decide that they’d rather not venture into the house. They would like to be fed twice daily, and are probably going to be excellent mousers as they’re currently very keen on ‘hunting’ their toys.

The boys came into our care after being handed into a vet practice as terrified 9-week-old strays. Sadly Caraxes' right front leg was so severely fractured that it required immediate amputation. Our vets estimated that he'd been carrying this injury for around three weeks - the pain he must have endured doesn't bear thinking about. He quickly recovered from the surgery and is now tearing around like any other adolescent cat. Cats cope very well on three legs and it won't adversely affect him, but he will need to live somewhere away from busy roads and farm machinery etc, as he may not be able to get himself to safety quite as quickly as his four-legged brother.

The boys are very closely-bonded and rely on each other for confidence. They’ve gained a lot of confidence while they've been in the care of one of our experienced fosterers - who's taken a very 'hands-off' approach with them and kept any interactions 100% on the boys' own terms. They were originally too scared to play, but now love games with each other and with their fosterer. They've become quite vocal and love a chat with their fosterer. However, they always keep their distance, will not allow touch and cannot be handled - these are likely to be life-long traits.
