Without volunteers, Cats Protection High Wycombe and South Bucks simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.
We're always looking to welcome new volunteers to join our team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of High Wycombe & South Bucks, you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance.
We are currently looking for:
- fosterers (indoor and outdoor)
- someone to look after our Twitter feed
- someone to be in charge of our fundraising
- home visitors, particularly those that know Maidenhead well
Would you like to become a fosterer?
Fosterers are central to our operation, and we desperately need more fosterers to look after cats whilst they await new homes.
Indoor fosterers would need a spare, secure room away from your other pets (if any) to keep a cat temporarily whilst it awaits a new home. If you have no other pets then you might opt to give the cat access to the whole house. Either way, your foster cats cannot have outdoor access.
Outdoor fosterers would need space in the garden to accommodate a pen. You may need to have a concrete base put in your garden – again, the charity would pay for this. Being a fosterer is very rewarding but a lot of thought needs to be given before making the commitment as the charity would be purchasing a new pen and they are costly.
You would need to expect that people would need to visit and see the cats, after having been vetted beforehand. All food, litter and vets bills are paid for so all you need to supply as a fosterer is the TLC.
If you are interested in becoming a fosterer please email us at enquiries@highwycombe.cats.org.uk and we can tell you more about it. You can also watch a video about fostering here.
