Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Our centres and branches take excellent care of cats and kittens that need help, but life in a rescue environment is not ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Until we can find them that loving home our cat care volunteers are a passionate, committed team, helping to give cats and kittens the best possible care. Cat care volunteers spend time directly with cats, cleaning their pens, feeding, grooming and enriching their play time.

You will volunteer with others in this role and be part of a multi-pen site or centre team. If you think this is something you would like to do in your own home, please search and apply for the ‘Fosterer volunteer’ role on our website.

A bit more information about this role and the team

Our Warrington Cat Centre is a busy centre that is paramount in rehoming large numbers of cats across the North West region each year.  The centre has a team of paid staff on site, however we also have a wonderful team of volunteers that play a key role in helping us with many different elements of cat care.

Our Cat Care Volunteers typically help us to clean our cat pens each morning so that the cats have a suitable environment whilst with us.  Whilst cleaning is therefore a major part of this role, volunteers will also have the chance to spend 1-on-1 time with the cats, providing enrichment through handling, grooming and play. It really is a wonderful role!

Full training will be given and all volunteers are entitled to claim travel expenses in order to get to and from their role.

This role is based at Warrington Cat Centre on Elizabeth Drive in Padgate (WA1 4JQ).
