About adoptions

Our adoption fee is £75 for any cats over 6 months old (each), our fee for kittens is £95 (each). The fee includes vaccinations, micro-chipping, vet check, worm & flea treatment, neutering and 4 weeks free PetPlan insurance.

When you see an advert for one of our cats on our website or Facebook, this means that they are ready for homing immediately - we do not advertise cats that are still undergoing treatment with us or need to remain in our care for a bit longer. When submitting an enquiry for one, and are successful, please bear in mind that the cat will be homed to you most likely within the week!

We ask that you read these full guidelines, which is a summary of what takes place when adopting a cat from us. This does not count for cats homed via 'alternative homing', more information on alternative homing can be found at the bottom of the page.

1. Enquiry

If you see an advertised cat/kitten you are interested in adopting, please contact us via our website.

If we think you’re a match, we will call or email you. This gives you the opportunity to discuss the cat/kitten selected, welfare and general queries on ownership.

If you are in rented accommodation, we will require written proof from your landlord to confirm pets are allowed. We will only be able to proceed with your enquiry once this documentation is received.

2. Virtual home visit

Once the cat/kitten is reserved for you, we’ll arrange a “Virtual” Home Visit. This is usually a phone call to run through some questions to see if you are the right fit for the cat you would like to adopt. Sometimes, we ask for photos too, or request an in-person visit.

3. Payment

Following a successful home visit, we will forward you payment information. You can either pay by bank transfer before the adoption takes place.

4. Delivery/paperwork

A volunteer will then call you to arrange a mutually convenient time to deliver your new cat/kitten to you, or for you to collect the cat. Strict health & safety guidelines will always be in place to ensure the safe transfer of the cat/kitten to your home. The volunteer will run through paperwork and allow you to read and sign it. The documents you’ll receive will be in your 'Welcome Home Pack' and include: cat/kitten information sheet, 2nd vaccination and neutering voucher (where applicable), adoption paperwork (including details of PetPlan insurance), vaccination record and microchip number. The microchip number will be registered to you once the cat has been homed and you will receive an email or text to confirm this.

5. Follow up

A branch volunteer will be in touch with you to check how your cat/kitten is settling into their new home after a week and provide any advice you may need.

Please bear in mind that we are a “VOLUNTEER” branch and it may take some time to reply back to everyone that contacts us

Alternative homing

Alternative homing is when we home cats directly from the current owner’s home. These cats are advertised on this page. Only cats above 6 months are available through this process – if you are interested in adopting a kitten, please visit our ‘Adopt a Cat’ page to see if there are any available.

While the cat is never cared for by our volunteers, we arrange vet care for them including a health check, vaccinations, microchipping, neutering, de-fleaing and de-worming, which the cat will attend while with their current owner. Once this is completed, the cat will be advertised on this page and Facebook meaning they are ready for homing immediately.

A day will be agreed between yourself, the current owner and one of our volunteers for the adoption to take place, where the cat will be delivered to you, and you will be able to complete the adoption documentation at this time too.

The adoption fee is £75 for these cats, which can be paid by bank transfer before the adoption date, or by cash.
