Cat adoption in Atherton & Wigan

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in Atherton & Wigan? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.  We will go through our Homefinders Questionnaire with you to help with the process.

At Atherton & Wigan, we do not have a central adoption centre, cats are fostered at our volunteers' homes. Cats ready for adoption from Atherton & Wigan are featured below. To express your interest in a particular cat, please enquire via their listing. If you have any general enquiries about your suitability, or the adoption process, please call us on: 01942 465 321 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, or email adoption@atherton.cats.org.uk including a contact number.  We consider all applications to find the best match for the cat. If you are unsuccessful on this occasion we will let you know, but keep looking at other cats on our website, we are sure to have the right one for you before long.  We do have other cats in our care, but they aren’t ready for adoption yet so aren't  on our website.

Considering adopting a cat but don't own your own home? We'll need to see written landlord permission allowing you to have a cat in the property.

Cats Protection Atherton & Wigan charges an adoption fee of £80 per cat, and £100 per kitten up to 6 months old, payment is usually made by bank transfer. You will be asked to sign an agreement. For the adoption fee, your pet will have had a veterinary health check, be microchipped, vaccinated against flu, enteritis and leukaemia, neutered, and treated for fleas and worms.  You will also receive four weeks FREE insurance from Petplan.  We will contact you to check that your new arrival has settled in.

You can find out more about adopting a cat from Cats Protection here.
