Priority will be given to re-homing within our allocated postcode areas which are GL5, 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13
The Steps to Re-Homing
1. Application
We are keen to help as many cats as possible, offering our cats a home will help to free up more space to take in emergency cases. Our application process is straightforward, you can either complete our online Application form attached to a particular cat's profile or please call our Homing Officer to go through the questions (07884111498) please be aware that this is not an office but a line into a volunteer's home. Questions will include what facilities you have, such as outside space, your household, including children and their ages plus any other pets. Based on the information given we will try to find an ideal match or talk to you about the cat you have selected. We will take into account your working hours, proximity to road(s) and /or railway lines.
2. Cat Chat
If we have a cat in our care that we think may be a good match, one of our volunteer home checkers will pop round at a time that's convenient for you. The objective of the home check is to ensure that the information provided is accurate and to give some useful tips on 'cat care', please have your questions ready.
3. Match the cat
Once approved, the Homing Officer will talk you through the options available and you will be invite to meet any suitable felines in care with the fosterers. You will be able to contact the fosterers direct to arrange a mutually convenient time.
4. Meet the cat(s)
The cats do tend to have the last say and will often choose who they would like to go home with. When you meet them, most are ready to leave us, so please go prepared. Due to high demand on our space we can only 'reserve' for a maximum of 48 hours unless there is a reason why the cats cannot leave our care i.e, a mum cat with kittens or kittens under 09 weeks of age. In this situation the fosterer will liaise regarding a 'collection date'.
NB. Our minimum veterinary standard includes: Spay/castration, micro-chipping, flea and worm treatment, plus full vaccination for flu/enteritis and leukaemia plus a health check by a qualified vet, 4 weeks Pet Plan Insurance is also included. In addition, all un-neutered adult cats are blood tested for FIV/FELV
If a cat/kitten leaves our care prior to its 2nd vaccination we will provide a voucher to cover the cost of this. the vouchers are valid at our designated vets - Bowbridge (Stroud/ Stonehouse). Vale Vets (Dursley) or Ashcroft Vets (Cirencester/Tetbury). Similar vouchers to cover the cost of neutering will also be sent out once your kitten(s) reaches approximately 05 months of age.
5. Adoption Fees - These are minimum amounts payable, any amount given over and above will be put to good use on the cats. Our branch is run solely by volunteers.
Kitten @ £100.00
Adult Cat up to and including 09 years of age @ £80.00
Adult cat 10+ @ £40.00
The payment should be given to the fosterer and is by cash or cheques payable to Stroud Cats Protection.
6.Be supported :- You will receive a follow up call, email or visit @ around three, fourteen and twenty eight days after adoption to check that your new arrival is settled in. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice
